Product Description

These are wonderful plants that can grow quite large, but bloom with full size flowers in 4-inch pots. We have two seedlings that are in bloom now (Early Spring) with one flower each. Flowers are extremely waxy and very fragrant. This species is also known as the Darwin Orchid because, after seeing the 18-inch long nectary on the back of the flower, Darwin predicted that there would be a moth with an 18-inch long proboscis that pollinated the flower. Only many years later (After Darwain had long past died) did someone actually find the moth that Darwin had envisioned. We grow these seedlings in low to medium light keeping the mix moist.
