We just received our newest shipment of Rexus Orchid Bark and the prices have increased 60% !!! As Al (from Al’s Orchid Greenhouse) say’s “ It’s too bad orchids DO grow on trees”.
Now, more than every, it’s important to start mixing that bark with other ingredients that make the mix go further. Fine bark is great for small rooted orchids like Pleurothallids, seedlings etc. We suggest adding perlite and charcoal to open the mix and allow good air movement throughout the mix.
We also highly recommend repotting your seedlings and fine-root orchids every 9-12 months to keep the mix fresh and clean. Because this bark is small, it will tend to hold more moisture longer than the larger medium size bark so repotting more often is recommended.
