Epipactis thunbergii Blooming size dormant roots

One of 70 species in the genus, Epipactus thunbergii joins a group of vigorous plants being discovered by American gardeners. This hardy terrestrial orchid hails from Japan and the colder parts of northeastern Asia. Give it sun to part sun in moist, well drained, humusy soil. It will soon grow to make a very showy colony displaying numerous orange-yellow flowers in summer. The two foot tall plants provide an unusual color in the summer shade garden!
